Newcastle United secured their place in the 4th round of the FA cup on Wednesday night, a hat-trick from Peter Lovenkrands was enough to book our place on the bus to West Brom in a week and a halds time.

Whether Chris Hughton is bothered about the FA cup or not, the win will see a bit of confidence return to a squad that has struggled to score goals of late, even if this was our 13th game unbeaten.

The highlight of the night will of course be Lovenkrands’ “perfect” hat-trick, “Lovenkrands’s finishing was fantastic,” reflected Paul Mariner, Plymouth’s manager and a former England striker. “His movement and timing are superb and he was the coolest guy out there.” But to be fair, 30 points separate us from Plymouth in the league, and maybe this replay should never have happened.

The reduction in crowd will say as much too, with just under 16,000 at St James’ Park, fan’s chose not to pay for more tickets, no doubt this will allow the attendance bollocks to appear again, but in fairness, who cares?

The questions will also be asked, “Do we need Jermaine Beckford?” After talking to a couple of Leeds fan’s, maybe he’s not the player we think he is, or want him to be, the words the Leeds fans said, “lazy, suspect attitude, won’t make it in the Premier League”

Hughton on the other hand thinks different, talking about Lovenkrand’s hat-trick, the NUFC manager said; “Peter gives us something different but I still have the same transfer targets!”
