At Home With The Simpson

simpson

The signing of Danny Simpson may well turn out to be the best we an do in January, media speculation aside, we are struggling to land the targets we require for cover and a push to the Premier League, however, Danny is saying all the right stuff…

A product of Manchester United’s Academy, Simpson began his career in 2003, but has struggled to break into the Man Utd squad, hardly surprising when you see the players that the Mancs have had during his time.

As an out and out Right Back, Simpson had Gary Neville et al to contend with and to be honest, you can see why he has been shipped out on loan for the best part of his career.

Simpson has had  two spells at Royal Antwerp, been to Ipswich, played 16 games for the red and white unwashed and Blackburn before finding his way on loan to Newcastle United.

Since Danny arrived in August last year, he has secured the right back position and proved he can cut it in the Championship, perhaps already knowing as much as he was part of the scum’s promotion winning team in 2006/2007 season.

The on and off saga of his deal with Newcastle finally came to an end on Wednesday, and Simpson, talking to NUFCtv, had this to say about his new club;

“I’m absolutely delighted”

“I’ve wanted this move ever since I walked in the door back in August – I’ve loved every minute.

“It’s hard when you’re going from club to club. This is the first place where it’s really felt like home and to secure my future here is all I’ve ever wanted.

“I can’t wait now for the rest of the season and helping to put this club back where it belongs.

“We’ve had a good start but the job is only half done and I’m happy I’m here to help finish it.

“It would have been awful having to watch the lads on TV for the rest of the season having been part of it, so I’m delighted that’s not the case.”

It’s nice to hear that a player feels at home and let’s hope he settles down and can continue to improve for us, the rest of the interview can be seen at NUFC.co.uk.
