Talk Of The Tyne – Newsround

Dac101 once again rounds up the daily mutterings…
We have signed Fitz Hall and Patrick Van Aanholt on loan. “One Size” is here for the rest of the season (again points to Taylor being seriously crocked) and Patrick is here for at least a month after being on loan at Coventry earlier in the season. Patrick is a 19 year-old left back from Chelsea and is presumably in to cover Enrique’s injury and will then return to Chelsea. Hughton dropped a slight hint that he may be considering Patrick is a future signing : “He will give us energy and it’s a good chance to have a look at him over the next month.”

According to the Mail we are poised to sign defender Osman Chavez on loan until the end of the season. Hughton has been quoted denying it. So given our recent record for getting South American players on loan behind manager’s backs you can count this as a done deal! I couldn’t find out where in the back 4 he plays or even if he is left or right footed but he is nicknamed “El Tierno”(The Tender or The newborn) – sounds like a real hard man! Apparently he was recommended to ‘Arry at Spurs by Wilson Palacios and has since had trials with Blackburn, Celtic and other clubs too numerous to mention. Surely with the load deals signed today already we don’t need this lad as well?

We have lodged bid with the Crystal Palace administrators for Victor Moses (somewhere around 1.5 million). The bid has supposedly been turned down as they want more than 2 million. Personally I reckon he is worth at least 4million! Forest and WBA have also bid and I suppose as long as no Premier League clubs get involved we are probably his best choice. In reality I can’t see him coming and I suspect big Mike is relying on this fact and the bid is designed to make him look good – either that or he has had a big win down the Casino!

Hughton on Moses: “It’s been documented that we are very interested in signing the lad. Most people are also aware of the circumstances with Crystal Palace and the situation they are in, and we hope to make progress on that over the next couple of days.

It’s one we have a very, very keen interest in. He is a player who has an ability to score goals. There is a power and pace, but it is his potential.

Around what we are trying to do here this season, which is the most important thing, there also has to be an eye on the future, and he is certainly a player of wonderful potential.”

According to some of the local London media we have now placed a “substantial bid” fro Moses!

All this transfer activity is making many suspicious, does Ashley have a grubby little deal up his sleeve to sell one of our starts to recoup the money or are we actually going to have a transfer window where Fat Mike doesn’t make a profit?

In other news Middlesbrough have placed a comical £9m price tag on Adam Johnson with Manchester City closing in on the winger. The former England Under-21 star requested permission to speak to the Eastlands club and we can expect a move for an “undisclosed fee” of at most half of that amount by Monday midnight!

Sunderland have made a £1.5m move for Manchester City striker Benjani after the Zimbabwe centre-forward had looked close to sealing a transfer to West Ham. Bruce has also allegedly moved to sign comedy fullback Rod Fanni who was linked with us a while back.

Michael Chopra got into a fight with a Newcastle fan at the match on Wednesday who spat in his face and called him names. Personally I’d shake his hand for that easy chance he botched against us while playing for the scum but if I was going to attack him surely you go for the legs and try to put him out of our upcoming match against Cardiff?!?!
