Paying The Cost For Living The Dream

The latest money earner from Newcastle United is the “Live The Dream” chance of taking your own team to play at St James’ Park, but is it really the right option from a club that in honesty, need to build bridges rather than take more money from their already beleagured fans?

The promotions army have come up with the idea of allowing you and your team, be it a Sunday League team or a group of people who simply want a chance to play at St James’ Park to do just that, but at a minimum cost of £1100.00 per team.

It is a great opportunity for everyone to grace St James’ but it also allows NUFC to bring in a cool £11,000 for each day the tournament runs…this isn’r for a charity so one can only assume the cash guru’s are thinking this is a winner.

But I don’t agree, the fan’s of NUFC have had a torrid time and we should remember that this is yet another money making scheme, Mike Ashley will be laughing his oversized pants off if this takjes off, and the PR people will be clapping on what a success the tournaments have been blah blah!

Rubbish, building bridges should not cost us money, why not allow it for a cost that is acceptable to the general public, for a full squad of 18, the cost is still £60 per person, wouldn’t it be nice if the club actually said, “go on, come to St James’ Park, we aren’t the cash cow that you all believe we are, have a tour, kick about and a bit of bait on us

The problem is Newcastle are just that, a cash cow, the big picture see’s food prices increased over the last two weeks in the ground, and more money into club funds…don’t get me wrong, the fact the club is solvent is great, but Newcastle United, after the lkast few years, need to bring fan’s back on side – the community feeloing has gone, bring it back, offer something that is really worth it.

Even if the money was allowed to go to charity, I would feel happier than I do with the current offer, one I won’t attend – I would have loved to organise a team to play at St James’ for charity, surely the profile of the club is more important than a few quid right now?

On we go to the Premier League, so it seems right now at least, NUST have disappeared? OK, they haven’t but, we hear nothing to make us think that the rush of new ownership is imminent, no, we are stuck with Mike Ashley, money making schemes, fraud accusations and all round business man, a businessman who wants cash.

If you want a game of football, you are far better off nipping to your local club and setting off a charity game yourself, do it for Sir Bobby – you’ll feel better that you would lining the pockets of the man who mistook us for pushovers.
